Working on a 600x800 control cabinet in AutoCAD Electrical, I’m trying to optimize the 24VDC distribution so voltage drop stays under 3% while keeping breakers and feeders serviceable. Do you route a single 10 AWG trunk with short taps or split the load across two rails to flatten current paths, and how do you keep the wire numbers sane in the schematics?
I stick with a single 10 AWG spine; to keep the schematics tidy, set wire numbering to the ‘From/To’ format with LOC/INST prefixes and then run Resequence Wire Numbers so every tap inherits the trunk’s group. If tap runs push past about 300 mm I’ll split the rail, but otherwise serviceability wins — want the exact format string?
I star the 24V off mid-panel and cap branch taps at 4A; “page-line” numbering. American Wire Gauge Chart and AWG Electrical Current Load Limits table with ampacities, wire sizes, skin depth frequencies and wire breaking strength Longest run?
Pair +24V/0V trunks to stay under ‘3%’; then force tap order in Wire Sequence Editor. @OP.
