Best CAD-to-print export presets

Anyone got a battle-tested CAD handoff for additive? I’m prototyping snap-fits in PA12 on an MJF 4200 and exporting STEP AP242 from SolidWorks with 0.01 mm chord tolerance and 5° angle, but fillets still get faceted in the slicer. Looking for presets or macros that preserve tangency and pass basic material intent (PA12 vs TPU 95A) to the next team; happy to trade my Fusion 360 and SW settings.

, the MJF 4200 will happily facet fillets if you let the slicer tessellate STEP — drives me nuts. > Looking for presets or macros that preserve tangency and pass basic material intent (PA12 vs TPU 95A) I stopped feeding STEP; export 3MF from SolidWorks with custom tessellation (deviation 0.005 mm, max angle 1°) and add a Material custom property per body (MAT=PA12 or TPU 95A), which SmartStream/Netfabb carry through; if you must stay AP242, enable NURBS and force the slicer’s chordal tol <= 0.01 mm and angle <= 1° because 5° will always facet.

I’ve had better luck handing off Parasolid (.x_t) instead of STEP and letting Magics/SmartStream do the tessellation; set chord about 0.02 mm and drop angle to 0.5 deg — the angle usually causes the faceting on fillets. In SolidWorks I add a custom property Material=PA12 and SmartStream maps it into the 3MF job so the next team sees it. @hmoore99 the only caveat is bigger files, but the fillets stay buttery.
