I’m looking to invest 10–15 hours next month in training that directly reduces rebuild time and improves multi-user workflows. Has anyone seen measurable gains from the Onshape FeatureScript curriculum or the SOLIDWORKS 2024 Large Assembly Performance class — specifically in cutting mate count or update times when multiple people are pushing to PDM? After a short pilot, configuration tables trimmed our valve manifold variants from 96 configs to 24, and I want a course that scales those wins across the team.
Replacing most top-level mates with a skeleton part + mate references was the one change from the SOLIDWORKS 2024 Large Assembly Performance class that moved the needle for us — “cut mate count” about 30% and rebuilds dropped from about 85s to about 40s even while others were pushing to PDM. It takes 3–4 hours to refactor a busy assembly, but it fits your 10–15 hours and scales better than chasing mate suppressions. Are your assemblies set up to allow a master sketch/skeleton, or are you locked into part-driven mating?
Building on @ewilson45, the biggest win we saw from the SW 2024 class was switching fasteners to Pattern Driven Component Pattern off Hole Wizard: mate one seed, pattern the rest, plus SpeedPak configs exposing only the 3–5 reference faces — open/rebuild dropped about 25% with PDM churn. Small caveat: keep those subassemblies rigid and lock rotation on the seed or the pattern wanders like a loose socket — are your holes consistently from Hole Wizard or mixed?
